HARDLY STRICTLY IRISH (Suzuki Cady & Jimmy Murphy) play lovely, lively traditional Irish tunes and sing soulful songs from a variety of genres on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bodhrán.

"A new, local band is rocking the Bay Area—to high acclaim …They are commensurate acoustic musicians with decades of experience between them."  – Mark Fernquest, Sebastopol Times

Suzuki Cady is a fiddle player, singer, and percussionist based in Sebastopol, CA. She co-founded Irish bands New Wild Hog and The Pure Drops, and has worked in numerous other musical projects. Cady composes original tunes and teaches an Irish Music for All Instruments Class in Sebastopol, CA.

With an abiding love of traditional Irish music, Suzuki has played extensively at sessions throughout the Bay Area and further afield. Her fondness for the art form led to pursuits and outlets as far away as Galway, Ennis, Dublin, and Paris.

Her sense of rhythm is informed by an extensive background in Flamenco, Afro-Brazilian, West African, Congolese, and rollerskate dancing. She is currently studying Irish Step Dance and Sean-nós (Irish old-style) dance.

Jimmy Murphy, singer, guitarist, and mandolinist extraordinaire, has been a cornerstone of the traditional Irish music scene in California for over two decades. Jimmy is a member of New Wild Hog band, among other projects.

Murphy has performed all over the world—from the Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles to temples in Japan. Jimmy spent years as a contracted musician in Japan; with Tokyo Disney Sea, Universal Studios, and Tokyo Disney Sea. He also teaches DADGAD guitar.
